The Big Pink - 4/5 @ CDU
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010with A Place to Bury Strangers

The Big Pink is coming all the way “across the pond” to Club Downunder on April 5th. They’ll be bringing their British electro-pop sound that you may have already heard. Their popular song, “Dominoes,” has been featured in a commercial for Xbox 360 and given fantastic reviews by Pitchfork. Band member Milo Cordell also has his own record label, representing artists such as Crystal Castles and Titus Andronicus. The Big Pink has a single album, A Brief History of Love, but they have already won best new act at the NME Shockwave Awards and opened for TV on the Radio. If you’re looking for a sound like The xx, Wild Beasts, Girls, The Twilight Sad, or the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, you’ll find it here.
Considered one of the “loudest bands” in New York by bloggers and indie reviewers, A Place to Bury Strangers will be blasting their atmospheric wall of sound-influenced blend of psychedelic rock, shoegaze and space rock to start of the night. The band gained national attention by Pitchfork in 2007 and opened for several Nine Inch Nails shows in their 2008 US tour. Check out their new album released last fall, Exploding Head, which appropriately describes their unique ear-bursting melodies.
