Power pop duo Matt & Kim will be bringing their danceable beats to Club Downunder on Monday, March 30th! Currently on tour to support their January 2009 release, Grand, Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino promise to deliver a truly grand stage performance. Come indulge in the party-starting synth pop of this Brooklyn based band, in what promises to be a high energy show!

Formed in 2000, the Black Lips’ sound is a powerful mix of garage and punk rock with a dash of pop. Performing as part of Club Downunder’s 20th birthday week, their live show is one not to miss (things that have happened during their shows: vomiting, urination, nudity, band members kissing, and oddly enough: a chicken). Opening the show is Gentlemen Jesse and His Men, whose self-titled debut album was just released with critical acclaim. Come check them out on March 25th at Club Downunder!

Jonathan Bechtolt, better known as YACHT, is bringing his electropop sounds to Club Downunder on March 26th, as part of the Club’s 20th anniversary birthday week. A former member of The Blow, he has released various EPs and LPs since 2003. In addition, he’s worked with Devendra Banhart, Mantar, and David Shrigley. Come check him out!

Also performing is Chairlift, an electronic Brooklyn trio best known for their song “Bruises” (featured on that super cute ipod commercial). Their latest album, Does You Inspire You, was released with positive reviews from Spin Magazine and NME.

Australian New-wave-electro-revivalists The Presets are visiting Club Downunder on Friday, March 27th! Their most recent outing, Apocalypso, effortlessly combined Depeche Mode style synths and vocals with a forthright rock attitude. Supporting the band is The Golden Filter, an enigmatic electro auteur whose name is getting recognition thanks to her remix work for Cut Copy and Peter, Bjorn, and John. Don’t miss out on this night of indie-dance pop fun, part of Club Downunder’s 20th birthday celebration!
