Welsh septet Los Campesinos! will be bringing their energetic brand of indie pop to Club Downunder on Wednesday, January 21st. Fresh on the heels of two fantastic full lengths (”Hold On Now, Youngster”, and “We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed”), LC! are kicking off 2009 with an American tour. Fans of witty, self-aware lyrics and loads of hooks take notice.

Titus Andronicus, a self described indie/punk/shoegaze band from New Jersey are supporting. Their driving anthems and urgent, angry vocal style bring to mind Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes fronting the Arcade Fire. Or something like that.

Come check out Amy Ray with opener Jennifer O’Connor on Thursday, January 15th!

Amy Ray was one half of famed 90s folk-rock duo the Indigo Girls, and is an icon of the LGBT movement. An outspoken proponent of human rights, Ray has never shied away from visceral honesty in her music. Hear songs from her latest release, Didn’t It Feel Kinder, as well as classics from her back catalogue.

Opener Jennifer O’Connor is a singer songwriter from Brooklyn who released her second album for Matador records in August. Her powerful voice conveys her brave, honest songs with passion and conviction.

The Bluebird Suitcase began in 2006 when high school friends Alex Buigas and August Larson moved to Tallahassee with the hopes of putting together a serious band. However, due to the unwavering vision of the bands original sound, only the perfect people could fill the spot. Finally assembled in 2007 after countless tryouts, drummer Kaiman Walker and bassist Kiel Sims were added to the group. From that point on The Bluebird Suitcase has taken Tallahassee by storm, both at the main venues as well as parties.
Most importantly, The Bluebird Suitcase is a band of four friends who work diligently together to produce the sound that they each feel best describes themselves. Whereas this is similar but different for each member, the combination ends up creating a unique mix of new and old music with a little something for everyone. So come experience the psychedelic blues that is sure to get you out on the dance floor.
The Bluebird Suitcase is finally releasing their new album “Monsters in the Forest” LP, so this show will certainly be hard to miss!
