Union Productions welcomes Langhorne Slim and the Law to Club Downunder on Friday, September 30! This classically-trained musician, born Sean Scolnick, weaves multi-layered, identifiable tales of heartbreak and joy through his deeply personal lyrics and eclectic instrumentation. His song “Electric Love Letter” was chosen as number 5 on the Rolling Stone editor’s top ten picks and was featured in the movie “Waitress.” A blend of …bluegrass banjo licks, bluesy guitar and a bit of a punk-rock sensibility that is all his own, Slim redefines the listener’s idea of country, folk and blues. He has been seen touring with Cake, The Avett Brothers, Lucero, Rocky Votolato and Josh Ritter among many others. Major festivals including Bonnaroo, the Newport Folk Festival, Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Lollapalooza and the Philadelphia Folk Festival have also been home to his foot-tapping, energetic live shows.
Opening for Langhorne Slim we present Matrimony. Starting as a duo, Ashlee Hardee Brown and Jimmy Brown have swelled their ranks to a five-piece band with a plethora of acoustic strings, backing shouts and keyboards. This indie folk group is sure to please.
